"How long does this road go"
you said
"Forever and ever"
I replied.
We walked hand and hand
your sister, you and I.
The trees canopied above.
the stones at our feet.
We watched the caterpillar,
felt the soft roughness
of their fall furred skin.
Glanced at the box elders
mating in the sun.
"How long do we walk here"
you said
"As long as you want."
I replied.
you said
"Forever and ever"
I replied.
We walked hand and hand
your sister, you and I.
The trees canopied above.
the stones at our feet.
We watched the caterpillar,
felt the soft roughness
of their fall furred skin.
Glanced at the box elders
mating in the sun.
"How long do we walk here"
you said
"As long as you want."
I replied.
